Yesterday, Canadians were shocked to find out that after 35 years, Bell decided not to renew Lisa Laflammes’s contract. Not only that but they didn’t even give her a chance to say goodbye to her listeners. She took to twitter to say her goodbyes.

Canadians are furious and speaking out. Some are wondering why male anchors get to sign off and say goodbye and she didn’t get the same opportunity
CTV let Lloyd Roberston deliver the news until he was nearly 1000 years old and then sent him off with great fanfare. Lisa LaFlamme had to sign off via a twitter video at the cottage. They did her dirty big time. https://t.co/dffeMqYDgB

Lisa LaFlamme is among the very best journalists in Canada. She’s done it all, given her all. This is shocking. As she said in her video, she is 58 years old.
Lloyd Robertson worked as the network’s chief anchor until age 77. Am I missing something? @LisaLaFlamme_ https://t.co/uBpuGLzXui

What do sexism and ageism look like in Canadian journalism in 2022? Bell Media replacing a trailblazing 58 year old woman journalist as anchor of CTV's nightly national newscast with a less accomplished 39 year old man. #LisaLaFlamme

CTV apologizes for firing 58-year-old Lisa LaFlamme: “She should’ve been fired when she turned 50”https://t.co/lgkUCxRd2O

Lloyd Robertson got a weeks-long send-off, a documentary, and a tribute website.
Lisa LaFlamme got a 6-week gag order until she could send out a message on her twitter account that she recorded from home.
These are not the same. Please explain this to your employer.

After arriving in Canada, I saw Lisa LaFlamme sharing our stories as if they were her own experiences and journeys & she deeply cared. Today is a sad day to the Canadian storytelling institution. @LisaLaFlamme_, Thank you for being our voice for years. You will be dearly missed. pic.twitter.com/XGi1sQWr2X

Make no mistake. You are the best. Your response to this thing is class personified. You have my utmost respect and admiration. You will “rise above”.
