What’s a movie without a soundtrack?
Summer is almost here which means so are the big blockbuster movies. Top Gun Maverick hits theatre this weekend so why not take a look back at some 90’s blockbusters and their soundtracks.
“Iris” is one of the Goo Goo Dolls’ highest-charting songs. It was actually written specifically for the movie City of Angels with Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan.
Rage Against The Machine – “Darkness” From Brandon Lee’s The Crow. The Crow is straight-up loaded with awesome music from the biggest artists at the time, such as Stone Temple Pilots and Nine Inch Nails. But Rage Against The Machine steals the show
Aerosmith – “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” Armageddon was one of the biggest movies but not as big as this song! Not even one of their best songs but it was their first and only, No. 1 single ever.
Urge Overkill- You’ll Be A Woman Soon. Believe it or not, Neil Diamond wrote this song! Pulp Fiction is an epic movie and every Quentin Tarantino movie has an incredible soundtrack.
Guns and Roses- You Could Be Mine – Terminator 2. Not a lot of sequels are as good as the first one but Judgement Day definitely met expectations. It helped they had a great soundtrack.
Wicked Game- Chris Isaak It was released from his third studio album Heart Shaped World Despite being released as a single in 1989, it did not become a hit until it was later featured in the David Lynch film Wild at Heart
The Verve – Bitter Sweet Symphony. Cruel Intentions. The film started as a smaller budget independent film, but was picked up by Columbia . Cruel Intentions was a box office success, earning $76 million.
Just a Girl- No Doubt. Clueless is a cult classic and the soundtrack was the soundtrack of 1995.
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Love Rollercoaster. What was the 90’s without Beavis And Butthead. 2 guys just watching music videos all day long. Beavis And ButtHead Do America didn’t break any records and probably wasn’t one of Bruce Willis biggest opening but the soundtrack was great
