We do things a little differently on the far East Coast. One of those grand traditions is Storm Chips.
So, rather than standing in front of the chip rack at your local Sobey’s for 20 minutes debating which way to go, we’re going to help you.
We’ve compiled the Top 5 Best Storm Chips in Nova Scotia. Let’s begin…
#5 – Ruffles
Morning Surge host Amy says her go to is Sour Cream and Onion when it comes to Ruffles. It was actually pretty difficult to keep these guys at number five given their vast selection. Another easy go to is the All Dressed.
#4 – Lay’s
Betcha can’t eat just one! This is an obvious one. Lay’s found the way to all of hearts in the mid-nineties. They realized that people love salt, so you might as well douse your chips in it. They’re addictive. They’re delicious and they proudly stand at number four on our list.
#3 – Eastcoast Lifestyle Donair
Hard to believe that our East Coast Lifestyle Thick Cut chips are almost a year old!! What a wonderful partnership this product was able to spark ⚓🥔#EastCoastLifestyle #CoveredBridgeChips #eastcoastchips #thickcut #seasalt #eastcoast #snacks #local #ns #nb #cobrand pic.twitter.com/fFpMFLrMvb

Eastcoast Lifestyle teamed up with Covered Bridge to drop these Halifax originals. The donair chips have become a mainstay around these parts and we’re positive that this cross-promotion was an absolute no brainer in the marketing meeting.
#2 – Doritos
Very few chips on earth have been able to beat original Doritos Nacho Cheese. Yes, you’ll find a few people that opt for the cool ranch. Very seldom will you find somebody that goes right for the Zesty Cheese variety. There’s a chance those people are a little off their hinges. There’s very few certainties in life, we can always guarantee though that the Doritos Nacho will never disappoint.
#1 – Covered Bridge

When it comes to ranking the best storm chips, you obviously have to go with the ACTUAL storm chips that started it all. New Brunswick’s own Covered Bridge dropped these gems years ago further strengthening our already sterling provincial brotherhood.
Honourable Mention:
Sun Chips
Hard to beat the Harvest Cheddar. We will admit though, they are more of a summer time chip.
Ms. Vickie’s
2 weeks ago I got super high and accidentally ordered 100 mini bags of miss vickies and I’m pretty stoked on this now pic.twitter.com/EywgH2Dh1S

Miss Vickies goes great in any weather and has a crunch that’ll last a lifetime! They pair beautifully with any storm.

Say what you want, but you cannot go wrong with the OG Rip-L’s. They’re wavy, they’re salty, they’re crunchy and they’re delicious.
