Police say a teen acted in self-defence when fatally stabbing a 19-year-old Nova Scotia man in Ontario this summer.
Ottawa Police say no charges will be laid in Eric Hewer’s death on July 26th, which happened after a fight broke out between three e-scooter riders and the driver of a black Volkswagen.
Hewer had been out celebrating his birthday in the nation’s capital that night.
Investigators say their examination of the stabbing included witness interviews and video evidence.
“After an extensive review of this incident, homicide investigators have determined that the individual acted in self-defence and, as such, there are no reasonable and probable grounds to lay a criminal charge,” police say.
Hewer was from Sydney, Nova Scotia, and had made the move to Ottawa to start a new job.
