Police charge man for stunting
Police have charged a man with driving in excess of 50 km/h over the posted speed limit in Halifax this morning.
At approximately 7:05 a.m. a member of the Traffic Unit observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 102 outbound. The officer observed the vehicle’s speed in excess of 150 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
A 28-year-old man was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. In addition, the man was suspended from driving for seven days and the vehicle he was driving was seized and impounded.
The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
