Dalhousie University, in Halifax, is the latest of the province’s post-secondary institutions to require both shots.
The directive also applies to anyone from Dal’s sister school, the University of King’s College, who plan to use Dal facilities.
A memo to the university community Wednesday laid out the specifics. Students, faculty, and staff will be asked for proof of their vaccination status before they’re allowed to access campus.
Anyone who isn’t vaccinated, or who refuses to give proof of vaccination, must be tested for COVID-19 twice a week.
In the document, Frank Harvey, Provost and Vice-President Academic, said they made the decision after the results of a recent survey showed 95 per cent of community members planned to have both shots this fall.
“We continue to have great confidence in vaccination rates among our Dal community.”
Harvey also reiterated the school will continue to require masks through September, even when provincial masking requirements are dropped in reopening Phase 5, and are considering extending the masking requirement even further into the school year.
