A section of Spring Garden road is set to be closed to traffic for the next 5 months while the city completes a massive road construction project.
Starting Monday, Spring Garden Road between Queen Street and South Park Street will be closed to all vehicle traffic until November 30, but will remain open to pedestrians and businesses will still be open.
During that time, Halifax Transit busses are being rerouted down Morris Street.
Brenton Street will be accessible from Clyde Street.
The intersections of Spring Garden at South Park Street, Dresden Row, and Birmingham Street will be open, except to complete work in the intersections.
The impacted Halifax Transit routes are 1, 8, 9A, 9B, 10, 14, 32, 53, 59, 68, 123, 182, 183, 185, 186, 194, and 196, which will run down South Park Street to Morris Street, to Queen Streets and back Spring Garden Road.
HRM has granted a Noise By-Law Exemption to the company taking on the work. It’s in effect through the entire length of the construction project from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and to 7 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
As well, there will be some nighttime work; information on that and intersection closures is set to be released as it comes up.
